Quarantine & The Founders

Quarantine & The Founders

Hey guys,

We figured that it was only right to take the time out to share how quarantine has changed our day to day lives. It is an immensely uncertain time right now, and COVID-19 has affected us all in some way or another.

We would be lying if we said it did not make us feel vulnerable since we know friends that have personally been affected. Whilst we do have some down days, we are trying to motivate one another and our family members to utilise this time as productively as possible. We created a video that we posted on the L’Amour page on the 23rd March on what we had been been doing/plan to do. You can read the blog version here. Looking back at the last month, we have continued to follow the rituals written in that blog, and have also been able to do little things (that we usually do not have time for) that have given us great pleasure:

1) Virtual consultations with L’Amour clients: Our first virtual consultations was strange as it lacks the real human touch that we love. One of the greatest reasons we enjoy the clinic so much is because of our clients and speaking through a device is just not the same. Though, the virtual consultations have had great benefits. We have been able to build relationships with new clients, advise them on the best treatment based on their concerns and advise on next steps.

2) Minimum of 30 mins cardio and plug into Barry’s Insta Live at 12.30pm everyday: Though we have been really tempted to sit out in the sun and lounge, we have managed to stay disciplined with working out. We do 30 minutes of cardio and plug into Barry’s Instagram Live at 12.30pm everyday. When it comes to working on core, abs and glutes, Barry’s has been fab. Watching an instructor really keeps us going and the 30 minutes flies. The satisfaction after is priceless.

 3) Oil our hair: We have really been concentrating on self love and TLC. With us typically having clinic days Monday-Saturday, it proves difficult to care for our hair to the extent that we’d like to. One of our good friends told us about the magic 50/50 coconut oil and castor oil formula for hair growth and nourishment to hair follicles.  Since castor oil has a thick viscous consistency, it is difficult to spread. Coconut oil therefore dilutes it and makes it more user friendly. We have already noticed a huge difference having done this every week since quarantine started.

4) Netflix Series: We have taken time out to kick back and binge a few shows on Netflix (without feeling too guilty). We highly recommend McMafia, Money Heist and watching classic movies including Pretty Woman and My Cousin Vinny.

5) We are more conscious of what we are eating: We have made some small changes to our diets including cutting out white bread and eating grained brown bread. We are having more fresh juices, and have lemon and honey every morning. We have also researched the benefits of different energy boosters. We have started to blend the following concoction, which helps us to stay energised:

  • 4-5 dates
  • 8-10 almonds
  • A couple of cloves of garlic
  • A slice of ginger

Try it, and let us know your thoughts!

6) Organise our spaces: Though we are definitely still hoarding (because we need to take our unwanted items to charity), we have decluttered, organised and colour coordinated our wardrobes.

7) Learning how to cook: Henna has taken an interest in cooking and written mum’s cooking recipes.

8) Giving our nails a breather: We were really tempted to give eachother mani’s, but opted against it since we want to give our nails a proper break from acrylics and shellac.

9) Taking our vitamins: Since our lives are busy, we are really inconsistent with taking our vitamins. Our ultimate fav is ‘Hair, Skin and Nails’ from Hollands & Barretts, which we have been taking routinely during this period.

10) Take time to speak to family and reconnect with friends: As business owners, It is hard to give our undivided attention to friends and family at times when we wish we could. Speaking with friends and family over Facetime has been valuable and really wholesome.

We want to create a vision board which is still on the list. A mood board is a visual representation or collage that represents your goals and dreams. We believe that it is really important to identify your vision, give it clarity and speak it into existence every day. A mood board can play a big part in this.

So, that in a nutshell as well as streamlining L’Amour processes, improving our website and working on new treatments for our portfolio is what we have been doing for the last month. Quarantine is new territory for us all, and we are all still figuring it out. However, doing the things we have shared with you has made our time at home a lot more pleasent.

L’Amour gals – please do share your journey with us. We are excited to hear how you have been spending isolation. Please stay safe, stay home and stay connected. We send all our love to you and your family.

With Love, Henna & Aneesa
