Microneedling

Home / Aftercare / Microneedling

Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for acne, scarring, pigmentation and rejuvenation.

Immediately post treatment, you may experience some redness and mild swelling, but both typically diminish in about 12 hours

Over the next few days, you may experience some itchiness or skin sensitivity (to touch or temperature). Both are indications of the natural renewal process and typically dissipate a few days after treatment. It is normal for your skin to be a shade darker and be rough like sand paper for 7 days.

It is very important to follow microneedling aftercare after your treatment at L’Amour Clinic.

  1. Avoid sun exposure:

After you have undergone your microneedling procedure, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen, due to the toxins that may be contained in the lotion. Post procedure, the skin channels are completely open, and any toxins contained in topical applicants may be harmful to you.

2. Avoid the use of makeup after treatment

It is imperative that you let your skin “breathe” and recover for 48 hours after the procedure. The skin channels are open, and using a makeup brush can penetrate the pores, especially if they are very thin, causing further irritation. Using a makeup brush that has been used before can contaminate the skin and, consequently lead to infections. Wait 24 – 48 hours before you apply face makeup to give your skin the necessary recovery time.

3. Do not use any ‘active’ ingredient skin products

Post procedure, avoid any skin care product that has active ingredients. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will only irritate the skin further.

4. Use collagen stimulating products

As microneedling serves to stimulate the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Collagen Stimulating Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.

5. Drink water

It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.

6. Avoid sweating

As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to a either a reaction or infection.

7. Use a cooling face mask

After you have undergone microneedling, you may experience some skin inflammation or redness. Using a cooling mask will help reduce the inflammation or redness of the skin, giving you more comfort.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy For L’Amour Clinic

All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and we sincerely hope that your family have kept safe and well.  We have missed being able to offer you the treatments that we know you love, and we are looking forward to seeing you again at the clinic.

Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible, and prior to re-opening the salon, we have implemented a number of changes, which we would like to make you aware of. During the time the salon has been shut, we have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control Course, which is accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for our industry. We have since made a number of changes in the way that we operate that you will notice when you next visit.

If any of our staff feel ill or have symptoms of C0VlD-19, they will self-isolate immediately and not come into the salon. This may mean that we have to cancel your appointment at short notice. We appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled you will be able to re-book again.

If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of C0VlD-19 – please advise us as soon as possible and do not come to the salon for your appointment. We will not be able to go ahead with your appointment if you show signs you are unwell. We have amended our booking terms and conditions and you will not be charged for any appointments, which you miss due to illness/ other. Deposits/booking fees can be rescheduled until further notice but cannot be refunded

Visiting the Salon

For your safety and to maintain social distancing, we ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving.

Please attend your appointment alone in order to reduce human contact with our staff. Unfortunately, friends and family members cannot enter the premises. If you have booked appointments with friends /family members back to back then please continue to come to the clinic alone – one at a time.

We have increased the frequency of cleaning in the salon including making sure that common surfaces, toilets door handles etc. are wiped clean using disinfectant products between each client.

All tools and equipment will be disinfected or sterilised in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions for your safety.

Wherever possible we will utilise environmentally, friendly, single-use items during a treatment that will be disposed of safely after use in order to protect you from cross-infection.

We will have hand sanitiser available for you to use when you come into the salon.

We will understand and not be offended if you wish to wear a facemask or wear disposable gloves when you visit the salon and during your treatment is this is appropriate.

Please don’t be surprised or upset if our staff use personal protective equipment (PPE) during your visit and during your treatment. This may include disposable gloves, facemasks, aprons where appropriate.

We can confirm that the laundering of salon towels and uniforms is a priority and that all salon laundry is washed at 60 degrees C

All disposable items are bagged and safely removed from the treatment area between each client.

Our treatments

We have carried out a risk assessment on all treatments and we are confident that we can continue to provide these safely.

During your treatment

Our staff understands the importance of hand hygiene and we will ensure that we wash our hands in according with NHS recommendations before the start of your treatment.

We will try to make your treatment as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your treatments please let us know and we will do what we can to satisfy you.

After the treatment

In order to avoid handling of cash, we would prefer if you could pay for your treatment by PayPal or bank transfer.

All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and that of our staff. We will continue to take advice from the Government and the NHS regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.

Thank you for your understanding.
